Secret? Uh, It's Called, "Name It, Claim It!"

This is no secret:
The "secret" is the "law of attraction" -- like attracts like and your thoughts create your reality. Going beyond the espousal of self-fulfilling prophecies, The Secret claims you can manipulate the material world -- the numbers in a lottery drawing, the actions of others, world events -- through your thoughts and feelings. Did you get a promotion? You must have been thinking positive thoughts about your job prospects! Do you have cancer? You must have been thinking negative thoughts about your health. I guess someone who really didn't like Rwandans thought up the genocide.
Hell, the "Blab it, grab it!" folks have been living off this magic "wisdom" for years. Somehow, they think that using Jesus' name as a magic juju bean is religious and thus good, while saying chants and witchcraft is evil magic. What's the difference? Both use the force of one's will to change existence, rather than submitting to it (or submitting to God's will, if you see it that way). Both deny the objectivity of reality in favor of a world in which we can affect the minds and actions of others.

It's a foolproof system: if you think/pray/say something long and hard enough, it'll happen! And if it didn't...? Well, you didn't think/pray/say it hard/long/faith-filled enough, or it wasn't Gawd's will. Simple! You can't lose! And that's why there's another sucker pulled in every minute, via TBN.
