See his Congressional page here. See his biography here. The man got an engineering degree from MIT and an MBA from Berkeley, and he served in the Air Force. He has seven children and eight grandchildren. I can't wait to see the vipers from the RR try to tear down his distinguished record, because I'm quite willing to bet they'll be made to look very foolish, indeed.
A senior member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee, he is currently the Chairman of its Health Subcommittee. Stark previously served as the subcommittee's Ranking Minority Member from 1995 to 2006 and as its Chairman from 1985 to 1994.I'm glad for him, but I hope that this is just the start. We all know that there are a hell of a lot more than one or two atheists and agnostics in Congress, but we all know that it isn't terribly popular to be a nontheist and try to get re-elected. And the only way that will change is as more people are open about it and lay down a strong record to silence ignorant bigots.
